I know this isn't giz but thought you guys might be interested. Netflix has been saying that Comcast and other isps have been throttling Netflix traffic and wanted money to let their customers use their service at full speed. Essentially extortion. Now Netflix has given up trying to reason and agreed to pay Comcast to let their users view Netflix without throttling. Which is absolute bullshit. So much for the cause of neutrality. What next? Twc asking Google to pay them money because twc customers use toomuch of Google services? !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

I do know that the FCC are redrafting the rules so that they can argue over net neutrality, and not get shut down by their own wording.

I'm not sure how much longer this will last.

This is particularly screwed up (imho) in the U.S. If you want to really geek out on this topic, there's a well-written article on how current policies have not resulted in U.S. broadband being more competitive with the rest of the world. Not that government is the answer, but we can do better.

Come on guys. It's very simple. If you run a website, all you have to do is call up every fucking ISP in the entire US, and ask them if you're being throttled on their networks. Oh and then pay whatever arbitrary fee they feel like demanding. Piece of cake!
